Freedom House students at home

Freedom House students live in slums on temporary construction sites. They are unsafe, unsanitary conditions with limited access to clean water and toilets. However they do take pride in their temporary homes making them as clean and organized as possible.

Freedom House students at work

Freedom House students often work on the street selling flowers to help support their families. It is a dangerous and tiring job walking from bar to bar in tourist areas until early morning and trying to convince people to buy roses or strings of jasmine without having any language in common.

Field Trips

Whenever the budget and time allows we like to take the kids on little trips outside of class time. This may mean the student's first time to a movie theater or the zoo; wherever it is it is always an adventure!

Having fun with learning!

At Freedom House we think learning should be fun, the best way to learn is through hands on experience and we get plenty of that! These photos are from break time or creative learning activities our volunteers have come up with.

Volunteers

Freedom House is run as absolutely non profit and everyone working there is a volunteer. That is how we ensure loving, caring commitment to our purpose. Without these wonderful volunteers we could not open our doors.

In 2007 we were able to add adult classes to Freedom House to meet an increasing demand from our student's families. This way they can come to school and learn together.
